Guild Update : SoO Week 14 : The Fall of Pride

Cathaidelia (Cath) and Picorina (Piccotto) have rejoined the guild on their main toons. (They never really left. 🙂 ) Also, they brought a friend Mattdemmon along. Welcome aboard (back) guys! They hope to raid flex modes with us to skill up to try out for a regular raid spot one day.

Guild News

I have officially announced that we are moving to Loot Council as our raid loot distribution model. Our informal method we’ve used in the past works great with 10, but with 20+ it will become quite cumbersome. Please check the forums http://www.ashenorder.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=264 for more information about how this will be implemented.

The Ashen Order is now Cross-Realm! Okay, not really, but I have created the Ashen Order guild over on OpenRaid.us. If you’re a member of our guild on Whisperwind and have an Openraid account you’re already in it, but this allows us to extend virtual invitations to our friends on other realms so they can be kept up to date on any cross-realm functions we are running. Check it out here.

Raid News

This week, our main raid team buckled down and played a bit of pacman and after only a handful of pulls downed the Heroic Sha of Pride! We also made great progress on General Nazgrim. Next week we hope to work on Iron Juggernaut and General Nazgrim as well as clear all our previous heroics for even more gear.

Since there is not a whole lot of gain in clearing SoO every week anymore, outside of BoAs, we will focus on progression on all three raid nights. Read more and comment about this decision on our forums.

Our new FLEX mode order seems to work very well. We managed to down Garrosh fairly well once our communication problems with our other tank were cleared up. We will plan to go 3-4-2-1 for the foreseeable future, however unlike before where I stubbornly insisted to keep rebuilding the team until we finally cleared all 14 bosses, from now on we will end on or before 10:30P server, even if we haven’t cleared all bosses. I will make it clear to the raid before we start a wing if we are in danger of not finishing. Of course, being FLEX it won’t stop whoever wants to stay from trying to finish, but officially, ending at 10:30P so people know the duration.

I would especially like to thank the people from cross realms and even our own realm that have joined us for the past weeks. We’ve made some great new friends and its always good to get together and have a good time! Feel free to register on our forums here if you want to keep up to date with our events. (or join our openraid guild!)

Strike Team

While the first 5 achievement in MSV presented no real difficulty, the last one was a big challenge. We got very close a few times, but ultimately just couldn’t get past it. This week, we’ll continue working on “Show Me Your Moves!” and then move on to the Heart of Fear achievements for the Glory of the Pandaria Raider meta.

FLEX This Week

FLEX Mode will run this week back to its normal time Saturday at 6P Server (7p EST, 8p Ceipher time).

We will continue to do all four wings, however, because some people can’t make the early start, and because others are staying up way past their bedtimes, I am going to run 3-4-2-1. Running 3 first so we can start strong on a moderately challenging wing, then moving to 4 so that we can get Garrosh down before people are getting too tired to play. Then 2 because while its not too hard, its harder than 1 which is pretty much faceroll and we can do that easily last.

As always, feel free to bring your alts but we might have to switch to mains for Garrosh just because the fight is still pretty tight. I am toying with the idea of some new tactics though that might make it a bit more doable, we’ll have to see.

I hope this new order will work better for most people who want to get the most out of these raids. Doing 3-4-2-1 hopefully we’ll be hitting Garrosh right around 7:30P server which seems to be right around our guild prime time.

Let me know if you have any comments or think the order should be changed, I am always open to suggestion.

Guild Update : SoO Week 13 : Galakras Falls

Old friends have been returning and joining up! Garipan joined up as a long time friend of Nymeria and Spazzoid, Kyzen from Autumn Sun and friends of Ceipher. And lastly Elidellx returns from a long hiatus and is starting to tear it up in SoO. Welcome (back) guys!

Guild News

On the forums there is discussion about what we’re planning to do for loot distribution in the new expansion. ( http://www.ashenorder.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=254 ). With a 25 person raiding roster its going to be too time consuming to use our current informal method. Please feel free to comment, but I’m heavily leaning toward loot council at this point.

Raid News

Even though we were short a day due to the Thanksgiving(US) Holiday, we managed to progress … and KILL Galakras Heroic! Guild is now 4/14H in the Siege of Oggrimmar. We are still debating on what our next target should be. This week with no raiders scheduled out on our full 9 hours I am thinking we’ll try some pulls on Sha and Iron Juggernaut heroic, but ultimately I hope to get on Nazgrim and get him down at the very least. It will depend on how long it takes to repeat our Galakras kill, but I think it should be pretty quick.

The video for Galakras is being worked on by Basher and myself, as we should have 2 PoVs for this video, which is good because I do a bit of standing around snoozing especially on that second tower.

Strike Team

Still planning to tackle the 6 achievements in MSV this week for Glory of the Pandaria Raider. Please sign up at the Openraid Event page if you haven’t already. Will take people from guild roster first, but we will fill from Openraid for the rest.

Two new members have joined this week, say hello to Denz and Noxxa! They will be joining us currently for Flex runs and possibly main raid team backups, and perhaps in the future join our expanded 25 member raiding roster for Warlords of Draenor.

Guild News

Please let me know on the forum what your plans are for Warlords of Draenor so we can know what to look out for when recruiting. http://www.ashenorder.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=248

Also special thanks go out to Javaman for working up a cool logo for our forums and a very cool intro for our raiding videos! Check it out:

Raid News

Last week, the team managed to down Heroic Fallen Protectors after only a few pulls. We also got in some good progression on Galakras and hope to get him this coming week.

This Thursday’s raid however may be cancelled due to the Holiday. We’ll have to see who is available, it may still happen as some of our raid members are Canadian and already had their thanksgiving. We’ll have to see.

Saturday’s FLEX went well with having almost a full group (25) for the first 13 bosses. I had to drop some for Garrosh as the fight poses challenges that are simply difficult to have undergeared players, again, I even kicked my own alt and brought in my main to help finish the last fight, but we did accomplish our goal of all four wings in a night!

However, FLEX for this Saturday is Cancelled due to the holiday, unless someone else wants to run it, I however won’t be available to do so.

Strike Team

Wednesday’s strike team did not field enough participants to run, we need all 10 raid members to complete two of our targeted achievements. I will not be running Strike Team this Wednesday, again due to the holiday, however, December 4th we will try again, this time I have created an for this event. I encourage you to sign up through the openraid link if you would like to go so we can make sure we get the right number of people this time.

Guild Update : SoO Week 11

First of all I would like to welcome our newest member, Frekî, an elemental shaman. Welcome to the team!

I am going to start doing weekly updates of the Raid Team progress and Guild news on the front page. As we all know the week starts on Tuesdays so this will be a Tuesday feature.

Guild News

Zela has decided to hand the Rank 0 Guild Leader (typically referred to as GM) position to me. When we originally started this guild, Zela had a lot more free time to spend on the guild, what with only finishing her BSN in nursing, working part time (allegedly, she actually got > full time hours most weeks) as a neonatal nurse, as well as being a writer, a mother, and a wife. Now with being a full time PhD student and writing papers that may some day change the world, she’s a bit busy.

Zela is still a guild leader but me being rank 0 will allow me permissions to fix rank issues and bank permissions and things like that without having to bother her. She plans to raid with us more in Warlords of Draenor, especially on our more flexible Normal and Heroic teams.

Raid News

We successfully killed H Immerseus and put in some good pulls on H Fallen Protectors before moving on and clearing Heroic Norushen after only a few pulls adjusting our strategy to maximize our dps to beat the enrage. Finished the week 2/14H!

Next week we are going to work on H Fallen Protectors and H Galakras.

Saturday’s FLEX Raid was fantastic, cleared all 4 wings in just over 4 hours. At one point we filled to capacity all 25 slots full! Did not wipe even once until we got to Garrosh, but we persevered and completed the entire raid.

Strike Team

Last week the Strike Team successfully downed Heroic Sha of Fear completing “the Fearless” title. Was a fun night for all who joined and a special thank you to the Hunter we picked up from Openraid who helped us fine tune our strategies.

Next up for strike team is Mogushan Vaults achievements, working toward Glory of the Pandaria Raider.
